The Chineke! Foundation is delighted to have received an Arts Council England Culture Recovery grant of £300,000 to support the organisation up to March 2021.

The grant is a lifeline for Chineke! and, as well as supporting infrastructure costs, will enable the Chineke! Orchestra to perform "behind closed doors" concerts at the Royal Festival Hall this autumn and to deliver a programme of work in the New Year.

Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE, Founder and Artistic & Executive Director of Chineke!, said:

"This grant has been transformational for Chineke!. It has allayed our worries about survival in the short- to medium-term and is enabling us to continue performing, albeit without an audience, over the coming months. This will keep Chineke! in the public eye via our streamed concerts, and steer much-needed earnings to our freelance musicians who have suffered so much over the past six months. Thank you, Arts Council England."
