Intergenerational Music Making (IMM) has announced that Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE, Founder, Artistic & Executive Director of Chineke! shall be IMM’s very first Intergenerational Music Making Ambassador.

Intergenerational Music Making and the Chineke! Juniors have been working together during the pandemic to bridge the gap between generations and alleviate loneliness, through the sharing of music.

The Chineke! Juniors have been at the forefront of this work, using their musicality and compassion to support those in care homes, those living with dementia and those isolated in the community.  The Chineke! Juniors beautifully showcased that, through the simple act of sharing a song, comes a new kind of conversation; one that celebrates people, diversity and inclusion while championing the voices of both young and old.

Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE says:

“Music is a bridge that connects us to one another, and projects like the IMM prove it. It has been wonderful to see conversations opening up between Chineke! Junior musicians and older generations over this past year. As IMM's new Ambassador, I am looking forward to seeing this work expand and get even more people involved throughout the UK!”
