Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE was successful in getting her motion passed at the Musicians' Union conference in Brighton this week.

Chi-chi addressed the conference in a speech that outlined the need for BME musicians to receive audition support. Members voted unanimously in favour of the motion in a bid to improve diversity in orchestras.

Speaking after the vote, Chi-chi said:

“It’s probably impossible to change significantly the ethnic balance of an industry overnight. Perhaps Chineke!’s main achievement is showing that this talent exists.”
